Hi all... been an avid FreeBSD user since about 2.1.5... but its been a very long time since I've tried to run it as a desktop. Am now running FreeBSD 10-STABLE (subversion'd and make world'd as of several hours ago) on my home desktop on the second hard drive... To cut to the chase, I have a Radeon HD 6950 [ATI RV970].. after much struggle, I've settled on using the "ati" driver for now, since its the first thing I've been able to get to work. My question is: what is the best driver to be using now? I tried for quite a while to get drm2 to work but had no luck there (though documentation seems to be extremely sparse... please point me at any you know of if it actually exists). Is there anything other than "ati" that may work for this video card (note: i don't particularly care about 3D support, but sure, great if that works too), and any pointers on how to get it up and running? Thanks in advance for any answers/comments/abuse. ;) -- Regards, Paul Schiro <tribblon@gmail.com> 720.280.7023
