One thing that isn't in the faq:
as long as the freebsd ports tree is in a freeze you have to
1) update your ports tree
2) fetch stable-ports from marcuscom by
	# ./marcusmerge -b ports-stable
3) fetch gnome-2.24 by
	# ./marcusmerge
4) 	# portupgrade -a
When freeze is over you can leave out step 2)
