Sorry for repeating my newbiew question, but I have the same problem on two
indepent boxes,
both running FreeBSD 3.0-RELEASE, shared OS installation with NT4:

Why can't I use the ALT+<ASCII code> manner in FreeBSD to generate
non-us-alphabet characters?
I can't make it work neither in text mode nor under X windows.
Or is there another way?
It works under NT...
