Sorry, never mind that.  I found a simple testcase:

#include <math.h>

int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
	return isnan((double)argc) + isnan((float)argc);
}

Building with -lm -static will trigger the link error.  I'm
investigating where the problem is.
