This is a reason for freebsd-version(1) being introduced in 10.0+ to reduce confusion on userland/kernel versions. https://www.freebsd.org/security/advisories/FreeBSD-SA-15:06.openssl.asc > > [root@kabini1, /etc, 6:33:45pm] 323 % freebsd-update fetch > Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 5 mirrors found. > Fetching metadata signature for 9.3-RELEASE from update5.freebsd.org... > done. > Fetching metadata index... done. > Inspecting system... done. > Preparing to download files... done. > > The following files will be added as part of updating to 9.3-RELEASE-p12: > /usr/src/contrib/tzdata/zone1970.tab > /usr/src/crypto/openssl/crypto/constant_time_locl.h > /usr/src/crypto/openssl/crypto/constant_time_test.c > /usr/src/crypto/openssl/doc/ssl/SSL_CTX_set_tlsext_ticket_key_cb.pod > /usr/src/crypto/openssl/test/constant_time_test.c > /usr/src/secure/lib/libssl/man/SSL_CTX_set_tlsext_ticket_key_cb.3 > whew !!!! that took (24.262 cpu + 8.140 sys) sec., 0:32.91 elapsed time > tot, 98.4% CPU efficiency > (22 text, 531 data, 5332 max) KB, (2+72) io, 0 pfs + 0 swaps > [root@kabini1, /etc, 6:34:24pm] 324 % freebsd-update install > Installing updates...install: ///usr/src/contrib/tzdata/zone1970.tab: No > such file or directory > install: ///usr/src/crypto/openssl/crypto/constant_time_locl.h: No such file > or directory > install: ///usr/src/crypto/openssl/crypto/constant_time_test.c: No such file > or directory > install: > ///usr/src/crypto/openssl/doc/ssl/SSL_CTX_set_tlsext_ticket_key_cb.pod: No > such file or directory > install: ///usr/src/crypto/openssl/test/constant_time_test.c: No such file > or directory > install: > ///usr/src/secure/lib/libssl/man/SSL_CTX_set_tlsext_ticket_key_cb.3: No such > file or directory > done. > [root@kabini1, /etc, 6:34:35pm] 325 % > > This is the last part of what I saw when updating p9 from the console (I > think) .... You should remove the 'src' keyword current in the default 'Components src world kernel' line in /etc/freebsd-update.conf. That would keep freebsd-update(8) from trying to maintain source and prevent the errors from happening again. Jason
