Have you tried replacing the cable? Your symptoms make me think that one or more of the pins that are ground in SE mode but are the other half of a differential pair in LVD mode is fubared. It could be a bent pin or severed wire. If you do find the Adaptec cable to be defective, I'm sure that Adaptec will replace it for you for free. -- Justin
