I'll think about this and I'm sure Poul will shout at me if I get it wrong :-) There's no reason why we can't read all the existing info off the disk and re-write correctly as part of the installation. We will obviously get a confirm from the user but if they override this we'll just tell them they're on their own and that it's not our fault if everything breaks. This should fix up the problem of previous MBR/disklabel formats we've been using without forcing a total re-install of the whole system.
