I installed 4.4-RC5 last night. At reboot, the screen displays all the stuff you normally see like devices probed and found. The last line says Mounting root from ufs ad0s1a after that the following message keeps scrolling and the system never boots all the way: init: malloc(): Warning: Recursive call So I tried to boot from the older saved kernel 4.3-STABLE of May 2001 vintage. I get the same problem. Is this a bug in the new C library? Recovering is not a problem. I still have the 4.3 release CDrom of April 2001. Is there a less destructive way to recover from this (such as a C library replacement)?
