You haven't searched the mailing list :) I just did a search of the FAQ and Handbook for "mount AND extended AND DOS" and got the following response http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/x712.html which discusses your *exact* problem as well as the fix... What you are looking for is related to extended DOS partitions.
