Hello! I need to connect my laptop to the wireless NIC on my FreeBSD 6.0-STABLE ga= teway. It's ral0, and I've set it to ad-hoc mode. My laptop, running Windows XP, c= an see the network "bsd" but not ping it / connect to it. I used some ascii2hex converter that I found online to turn the wep key "1n= 4te" into "316E3474410D0B". # ifconfig ral0 inet 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 media autoselect mod= e 11b mediaopt adhoc ssid bsd wepmode on wepkey 316E3474410D0B # dmesg | grep ral0 ral0: <Ralink Technology RT2500> mem 0xfeafc000-0xfeafdfff irq 22 at device= 1.0 on pci2 # ifconfig ral0 -m ral0: flags=3D8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::214:85ff:fe1b:cbdf%ral0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2 ether 00:14:85:1b:cb:df media: IEEE 802.11 Wireless Ethernet autoselect (DS/1Mbps) status: no carrier ssid bsd channel 11 authmode OPEN privacy ON deftxkey UNDEF txpowmax 100 protmode CTS bintval 100 I appreciate this guys!
