OS X Achieves Official UNIX=AE Certification

http://www.osopinion.com/secondopinion/

Descriptive Quote from Editorial: "Today osOpinion published <a=20
href=3D"http://www.url.com">an editorial</a>, calling into question =
Apple=20
Computer's legitimacy as an officially sanctioned "UNIX=AE vendor.=20
osOpinion called the Open Group and asked them what the company's stance=20=

was on the issue. As it turned out, the Open group mentioned thatthey=20
were aware of Apple's usage of the term and would only go after the=20
company for trademark violation if it (or any company for that matter),=20=

used the UNIX specification in such a way that may confuse buyers.

Because the Open Group is aware of Apple's usage of the term and because=20=

no such legal action has been made known to the public or press, the=20
obvious conclusions drawn were that Apple is not currently an officially=20=

sanctioned UNIX, nor is the company in violation of trademark rights=20
with its marketing materials.

Since that time, the Open Group has updated their web site to <a=20
href=3D"http://www.unix-
=
systems.org/what_is_unix/single_unix_specification.html#platform">include=20=

Apple into its list</a> of vendors that support the single Unix=20
specification. This appears likely as a direct result to osOpinion's=20
publishing of the report.

Now, not only is OS X a "Unix-like" OS, but is also a legitimate =
vendor."
