Well, in your defense, you may have looked at the 'ls' man page a long time
ago -- color support was only added to 'ls' on June 2, 2000
(http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/bin/ls/ls.c -- see Revision
1.33).  Darwin's 'ls', based on the FreeBSD 'ls', still lacks color support.
