I'm against this proposal.

For consistency, since we already have some widely-used knobs in the ports
framework (I mean bsd.port.mk here), we should use it rather than something
only for a specific build tool. That means we should adjust the the build t=
ools
handlers (cmake.mk, meson.mk or what every other build tools) to follow it.=
 And
it is easier for committers/porters.
