Straight XF86_S3, as it came on the 3.1-R CD's. I'm going to try setting up a serial console and see if anything comes out; I'm not expecting anything, though. As I told someone else, this feels like something is instantaneously blasting the system, not "just" a kernel panic. Frankly, I think it's the hardware/bios on my MB, but that's just a hunch.
