Thank you all for your input. I'm studying up on OS design and implementation for my own personal edification, so I started reading my old college Tanenbaum text "Modern Operating Systems". Then I wanted to learn specifically about FreeBSD, so "The Design and Implementation of the FreeBSD Operating System" was the next logical step. I'll expand to other topics of interest from there.
