Try man XF86Config: The parts that you may be interested in are in the Display subscetion, ie= =2E=20 Virtual and ViewPort "Virtual xdim ydim=20 This optional entry specifies the virtual screen resolution to be used. x= dim=20 must be a multiple of either 8 or 16 for most drivers, and a multiple of = 32=20 when running in monochrome mode. The given value will be rounded down if = this=20 is not the case. Video modes which are too large for the specified virtua= l=20 size will be rejected.
