>Environment:
FreeBSD pavilion 9.0-RELEASE amd64
>Description:
I'm trying to get my Atheros PCI WLAN card to work on a newly installed FreeBSD machine. I know the PCI card works, because booting a Linux live CD, I do not have any issues connecting to my access point or transmitting data.

Here's what I get in dmesg:

ath0: <Atheros 5413> mem 0xfdee0000-0xfdeeffff irq 16 at device 4.0 on pci2
ar5212ChipTest: address test failed addr: 0x00008000 - wr:0x00000000 != rd:0xffffffff
ar5212Attach: hardware self-test failed
ath0: unable to attach hardware; HAL status 14
device_attach: ath0 attach returned 6

Running
pciconf -r ath0 at pci0:2:4:0 0:255
yields

I've intended to use amd64, but I've got the same problem with 9.0-RELEASE i386 as well as a 10-CURRENT (both amd64 and i386) from the beginning of November.

I've started a thread titled "ath0: unable to attach hardware" in each freebsd-wireless@ and freebsd-current@; these threads do contain more information which might be relevant (unfortunately I can't tell relevant from uninteresting information in this case). A good starting point may be this mail: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-current/2012-November/037505.html

Adrian suggested that the problem is a "PCI-PCI bridge resource allocation / setup problem".

I'd be glad if you let me know in case you need further data or want me to test possible fixes.
>How-To-Repeat:
The problem occurs everytime I boot FreeBSD.
