Subject: Strange PPP error?

Hello All.

I am away from my office on a trip to California. I am dialing into
a local ISP here using dialup PPP. No problem there.

But, if I try to connect to my web hosting platform (www.pair.com) to
do any work, under FreeBSD 2.2.5, I cannot do anything. It connects,
and then does nothing.

I've tried using lynx, netscape to view the main hosting site. Nada.
I've tried ftp'ing into my address. Nada.
I've tried telneting. I get the connected to www.pair.com and then
the message that the connection was reset by peer.
Even xfmail doesn't connect. Ping works fine, as does traceroute.

I've tried all these with both www.pair.com and 209.68.1.11.

The really weird thing is I can get anywhere else on the net that I
want to! I can telnet into our alternate host (www.bitwise.com). I
can ftp into cdrom.com, or whereever. Lynx and netscape anywhere.
This tells me that the routes are fine, and that the resolv.conf is
fine.

In windoze 95, I can get into pair just fine. Same dialup config and
local ISP.

Now this is strange since in the office, I can connect just fine to
pair.com.

I don't like to be in windoze, but right now I have to to get email,
and do work. Pair.com uses FreeBSD 2.1.7.1 as their OS.

Any ideas? I'm stumped. Some strange firewall?

Patrick
