Once the data was copied my son "helped" me by indavertantly repartitioning the new drive. The old drive is readable but has a bad track zero (can't be booted). Since I would like to attempt to recover some of the data on the old drive I have a couple of questions: 1. Where can I find information on the FreeBSD file system that might be useful in a manual reconstruction of the file system? 2. Are there any utilities or programs that might be useful in this application? 3. Are ther any utilities in FreeBSD that can perform an absolute block read? I am now running 2.2.5 from the four disk Walnut Creek distribution. I have looked through that, the FAQ's and some other documentation on the FreeBSD website. I would like to thank and congradulate those who wrote it and made it avialable. It has been most helpful for a wide variety of installation and configuration tasks. I may be missing it, but I couldn't find anything that appeared to help with my current problem, hence the questions. Respectfully, RJ Howard. ******************************************** * Name: Robert J.
