The modem acts as a bridge. All I have to do is turn it on; it then synchronizes with the ISP's network (PPPoA). Then I just execute dhcpcd eth0 from the linux machine (connected to the modem) and I'm assigned an IP and a default gateway in mere seconds. Unfortunately, as simple as it is in linux, it doesn't seem to work with freebsd... It should have worked with dhclient ed0, but the dhcp server's reply gets lost somewhere.
