The install auto-detects it and is using the xl0 device. The card is listed as supported at http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/install-hw.html There's a link light on the NIC and the hub that its connected to, and other workstations on that hub have connectivity to the outside world. However, the IP address I gave it does not ping from another workstation on the same subnet. I've tried with both 4.0-RELEASE and 4.1-RELEASE. The FTP install hangs at the lookup for ftp.freebsd.org. I've verified the network settings, and have verified that ftp.freebsd.org can be resolved by all of the nameservers (I have 6 spread throughout the US) on my WAN. I've tried each install with a different nameserver, with no luck (which is reasonable considering the inability to ping the NIC from somewhere else on my LAN). Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this problem? I don't have other flavors of NICs on-hand, unfortunately, just a stack of 3Coms (and incidentally, this particular NIC was working great last week under Win2K). Any help is much appreciated. - John Turner To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
