Sorry, I was going to fix it but was kinda sidetracked by various
things.

However, it is interesting to note that nobody, I repeat nobody has
given me any hand in improving the error check and message.  That
includes several committers who were complaining about it on the
lists.  That is sad.

 * I'd like to see this check backed out, myself.  If its intention was
 * to protect the users, it's only confused the piss out of them.  I
 * should know because I get many such messages like this in my personal
 * inbox.  "What happened?  Why is it saying this now?  How can I make it
 * stop?"

Please forward those mails to me.  I will personally reply to anyone
who is inconvenienced by my changes.
