If I understand you correctly, your burned 4.2-R ISO image does not
autoboot. You boot your machine from another drive containing Winblows
or M$-dumb.

Things to try (in order):
 - Check your BIOS. Try to boot from CD before it gets at other boot
drives.
 - D/L the FreeBSD boot floppies, use those to boot the machine.
