I made four slices on my hard-drive, their volumes and contents are: slice 1 2 3 4 volume 2.5g 1.5g 1.5g 3g contents Windos 98 freeBSD freeBSD freeBSD freeBSD 4.2 was installed and runs on slice 2. Previously I had installed freeBSD 3.3 in two slices from CDROM , and was able to run them from both. Now when I try to install freeBSD 4.2 from CDROM in slice 3 (I delete the file systems there and recreate them) using the simplest option, I get the following error message: "Error mounting /dev/acd0c on dist: Device not configured (6)" and nothing got read from the CDROM . Does anybody know what is going on here, and what I can do to install in this slice (and slice 4, the same happens there). I have installed freeBSD 3.3 in these two slices from CDROM , but it won't boot; when I try to boot to either of these two slices, I get the messages "Invalid partition" and "No /boot/loader", but when I mount those slices as file systems in the slice 2 system, I see a /boot/loader in each. I'm looking for advice about this too. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
