History is posted below: Ok went there, no difference. I added "defumask 002" to the /etc/ftpaccess file, rebooted the server and the results are the same. The man page for ftpaccess tells me that defumask [class] is the syntax, and that omitting the class will cause the umask defined to be applied for all classes that do not have a umask specifically defined...
