Okay, so you have an original Panasonic running on the proprietary
Panasonic interface, correct?  You'll need to check your DOS drivers to
figure out what base port and IRQ it's set up to use, then feed that to
the boot-time configuration.  

If you want to try the auto-probe, select the CLI boot-time configuration
then enter at the config> prompt

port matcd0 -1
irq matcd0 -1

Entering 'visual' will put you into the full-screen configuration, where
you can finish up configuring devices.  Make sure you leave the matcd0
device.  When done, make sure a CD is in the drive then hit [Q]uit.
