Sounds like you've got `defaultrouter' set in /etc/rc.conf.... and 
maybe no "delete ALL" before "add 0 0 HISADDR" in ppp.conf (assuming 
the `defaultrouter' is set to the dst address of the tun device).

Emptying the defaultrouter assignment should sort things out :-)  The 
warnings used to be supressed.
