Under Linux, the mpt driver is responsding to RAID events, such as if you insert a drive with safte device, the driver will do domain validation. But the driver is not having the raid stack, its in the firmware. You will need one of the following cards LSI20320-R,LSI21320-R,LSI22320-R, your host adapter should be having a sticker saying that.
