Dear Readers, Does FreeBSD support the unicode utf-8 encoding? System Details : 4.3-Release / XFree86-4.1.0_6 Locale in ~/.profile : LANG=en_US.UTF-8; export LANG Commands attempted with little success : ./emacs -fn -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso10646-1 (This is GNU Emacs 21.1) xterm -u8 -fn \ -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso10646-1 LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 xterm -fn '-Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-SemiCondensed--13-120-75-75-C-60-ISO10646-1' (& w/- en_US.UTF-8) None of the above succeeds is getting non-standard characters to display. I have read the resource available at : http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/unicode.html What am I doing wrong? Is is that FreeBSD lags behind Linux and Solaris in providing unicode support? I hope not. This is going to be critical in the years ahead.
