This is the version of X that comes on the 2.2.5 CD-ROM... 3.3.1.
I'm using the XF86_S3V server (but it used to happen with the Tseng W32p
server also on my old system). I believe the version that worked
before was of Summer 96 vintage (sorry I don't remember the exact
number..).

Yes, but can't do anything further.

Not sure... I'm at work right now... but ctl-alt-del works.
