When I was school months ago, My PC with 3C503 (I guess) ethernet card worked fine for network accessing. Now I don't have 3C503, but I have SMC8416T (16 bit) ethernet card with twisted-pair connection to an ethernet hub, which is part of my private network system. Each time I boot my PC, I always get the following error message: writing to routing socket: Networking is unreachable syslogd: bind: cann't assign requested addree. The command netstat -rn gives me nothing. In fact, ps -aux tells me that routed and syslogd are dead during booting. Here are some related informations: /etc/hosts contains 127.0.0.1 localhost supanee 192.168.0.2 supanee loghost 192.168.0.1 ultralean /etc/sysconfig contains hostname="supanee" defaultdomainname=NO network_interfaces="ed0 lo0" ifconfig_ed0="inet 192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0" static_routes="multicast loopback" route_multicast="224.0.0.0 -netmask 0xf0000000 -interface ${hostname}" route_loopback="${hostname} localhost" defaultrouter=NO routedflags=-s /etc/host.conf contains hosts Any help, hints, and suggestions will be appreciated.
