A: Could the ports tarball be created from a cvsup'ped tree with whatever
information is needed for cvs to recognize it as its own child?

B: Shouldn't the need to erase a tarballed tree be mentioned in the
UPDATING?

C: Do you really mean it won't _touch_ what it hasn't created, or it just
won't remove what it hasn't created?
If the former, then how can it update the source tree?
