Sorry about the nested reply, I don't seem to have the original message. I think I had trouble with whatever DOOM program is in the ports, but it's been a long time. Truth is, I think the program in ports is a bit outdated, and it doesn't work well. You might try prboom, which works wonderfully. It even supports extra features the official DOOM never did. You can find this at prboom.sourceforge.net. I think they have building instructions for FreeBSD.
