Wierd, I just tried it on my notebook, it works just fine both 80x30
and 80x60.

The only reason I can think of is that the check_modetable_for_sanity
function, somehow is discarding the modetable in the video BIOS, why
I cant tell offhand, but with a verbose boot the table is dumped so
it should be possible to inspect and compare with what the check
function wants...
