For writing GUI applications within FreeBSD, I find the TCL/TK environment preferable. Development seems a good bit faster, and small applications start much more quickly - the Java VM seems to take forever to load, and this is quite a nuisance with apps that are used frequently. TCL/TK is already available as a package, and can be set up as part of a base system more easily than Java, as it is at present, anyway. No, I don't want to start a flame war! ---------- From: Open Systems Networking To: Jeffrey Kukkola Cc: Freebsd-Advocacy Subject: RE: Promoting FreeBSD. I don't want to se FreeBSD start down the road towards windows(tm) land. ICK! Chris -- "I am closed minded.
