I have a problem with trying to login as root. when i loaded this o/s it asked me if i wanted a user passwd so im not in "root" all the time. so i made a normal login name and passwd. The problem is I tried to use my root passwd a number of times and cant figure out how to access it. unfortunately i didnt put my login name in the wheel group when it probably asked me if i wanted to.ive read the man pages on how to do this. and im just not getting it.I would like to configure my computer to run x windows but when i get through the configuration screens it tells me that i have to be in root to go on then im "stuck" because i have no idea how to access root.then i have to abort the configuration. Which is very frustrating.Im not very goog at putting in comm- ands yet. can you tell me step by step using the keyboard how i can successfully put my login name in the wheel group! if you could show me how to add my user name to the wheel group. And what command i need to use to bring up the file /etc /group I understand its suppose to look like this wheel:*:O:root, But i dont know what keyboard buttons to push to access this file. And also once you show me how to put this file on my screen. And then show me what keyboard buttons i need to push to edit this file. And if this is to much to try and explain.Could you tell me what to get rid of so i automatically will always be root when FREE- BSD boots up.I understand this is risky but all take the chance!..I cant get any- thing done that i want to anyway because i cant figure out how to be root on my system...Very frustrating. Im sorry this is so long . Thankyou To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
