I've never had to do that before, but I tried it anyway:

apachectl startssl
(48)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:443
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs
bash-2.05b# apachectl start

Note that it says port 443 is in use.
