However, I was going to run freebsd-update to check for any patches, etc.. That may need to be applied and it says it won't run on my machine: This system is running FreeBSD 6.1-STABLE-200608. FreeBSD Update is only designed to track FreeBSD Security and Errata branches and cannot update this system I was wondering if there is a way to force it to think my machine is really 6.1-RELEASE, or to safely use freebsd-update on my machine.
