hmmm.... That's odd. I'm using the same version with FreeBSD 
2.2-970713-RELENG #0 and have never had this problem.

Initially (right after installation) I did notice that it took a while to
start up, but I just waited and ignored the problem.  Now, Netscape starts
up fine with no delays or problems.  No changes were made and I did not 
even use the port at FreeBSD -- just the tar ball straight from Netscape.
