I am running 5.2-RELEASE and use Gnome as my desktop environment. A few weeks ago I started it up from startx and none of the gnome applications had any text. It appears that the fonts are all zero width. The menus are there, thie icons are there, but no text. Applications that aren't gnome apps display text normally. For example gEdit has no text in its menus, but NEdit looks normal. I cannot find any indication of any error messages from X. Its logs look OK. I tried upgrading from 2.4 to 2.6. I installed KDE and its looks fine, but gnome applications (like gEdit or Eclipse built with gtk+) have no text. I cannot find any indication of where the problem is. What is the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks, Donald Perkovich
