Subject: dump to ATAPI tape
Message-ID: <37329F1C.6DE0@sympatico.ca>

I have release 3.1 from the Walnut Creek CD. I can use tar with the tape
but dump fails. I used the command

dump -0af /dev/rwst0 /

After dump writes to the tape I get

dump: Closing /dev/rwst0
wst0: 29624320d total bytes transferred
atapi1.1: controller not ready, status=c0<busy,ready>,error=c0
atapi1.1: controller not ready for command
wst0: Sense media type failed

At this point the system hangs and I must reboot it.

Is there a problem or am I missing a step somewhere?

Thanks, Jim Chapman
