The modem in particular is a bit of a pain -- obviously I could buy a PCMCIA modem as well, but that kind of defeats the object of the exercise. So I'll probably ditch the models with the internal modem, and go for another VAIO instead, and get a PCMCI modem and ethernet card (which seem to be well supported, based on the PAO reading I've been doing). So. . . does anyone have any experience using either the F160 or the F190 VAIOs with FreeBSD? Again, a web search hasn't turned up anything. I don't expect any problems with the F160, as it's fairly standard. But the F190 has a built in DVD drive, and I don't know what the state of the support for that in FreeBSD is.
