Hi, I did it somewhat differently, ie compiled a kernel with the new driver, and booted over the net. so far the raid is very fast (though i only tested it with two 36g disks) Any idea what to use for managing the raid? I'm only interested in detecting if a disk is bad in a raid1. thanks, danny > Hi Danny. > > I installed x3650 yesterday. > > http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/downloads/unix/freebsd?productId=SAS-4805&dn=Adaptec+Serial+Attached+SCSI+RAID+4805SAS > > aacraid_freebsd6_drv_b11518.tgz(aacu.ko & more) > > copy aacu.ko to USB FD > > load kernel > load disk0:aacu.ko > load usb > set hint.atkbdc.0.disabled=1 > set hint.atkbd.0.disabled=1 > boot > ... > After install, copy aacu.ko to /boot/modules/. > Edit following files. > > /boot/device.hints > -hint.atkbdc.0.at="isa" > -hint.atkbdc.0.port="0x060" > -hint.atkbd.0.at="atkbdc" > -hint.atkbd.0.irq="1" > +hint.atkbdc.0.disabled="1" > +hint.atkbd.0.disabled="1" > > /boot/loader.conf > aacu_load="YES" > > # dmesg > Copyright (c) 1992-2006 The FreeBSD Project. > Copyright (c) 1979, 1980, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 > The Regents of the University of California.
