So, I'm trying to fire up X11 as a non-super user, and it fires up, gets the mouse cursor, and then dies with the following: System: `/usr/local/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/xkbcomp -w 1 -R/usr/local/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb -xkm -m us_microsoft -em1 "The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:" -emp "> " -eml "Errors from xkbcomp are not falat to the X server' keymap/xfree86 /var/tmp/xfree86.xkm Any idea what the heck's happening? I just did a plain build and install of it. I'm using a plain vanilla .xinitrc which is an exact copy of the one from X11R6/lib/X11/xinit. marc.
