OK, I progress: after reinstalling my 1542B, I discovered that the
external HD was no more detected! After some time I found that the
internal connector in the case had moved (please don't laugh - and I
have already a pretty collection of conical hats :-). I checked all
the cables again, tested that everything was ok with the 1542B and
tried again with the NCR.
Now the drive is found during boot:
ncr1 scanning for targets 0..6 (V2 pl24 96/12/14)
(ncr1:2:0): "MICROP 4110-09TBCU0322J HT01" type 0 fixed SCSI 2
sd3(ncr1:2:0): Direct-Access
sd3(ncr1:2:0): 10.0 MB/s (100 ns, offset 8)
1002MB (2053880 512 byte sectors)
sd3(ncr1:2:0): with 2428 cyls, 9 heads, and an average 93 sectors/track
But not the DAT! However after 'scsi -f /dev/sd3 -r -b 1' I get
(ncr1:4:0): "SONY SDT-5000 3.02" type 1 removable SCSI 2
st0(ncr1:4:0): Sequential-Access
st0(ncr1:4:0): 5.0 MB/s (200 ns, offset 8) density code 0x13, drive empty
And the DAT becomes available :-)
So only one problem remains: why the ncr driver is not able to detect
my DAT during boot ?
