The first is a place like 'somewhere' and the second indicates past tense, like 'we were having fun'. Also: "There" is a place, like 'The grass is greener over there'. "Their" is something belonging to someone like 'their opinion'. "They're" is short for they are... Anyway, enough of that. I enjoyed your story and I thank you for taking the time to write it up and post it here. It took me back to my first experiences with FreeBSD and I look forward to reading part two.
