Yes the msdosfs has been updated to support both the FAT32 (win98 and later
versions of 95) and normal FAT (win95 and earlier) filesystems.

Yes, but you will need to upgrade to a newer release than 2.2.1.  
2.2.8 or 3.1 will have what you are looking for.
