People seem to have some very funny ideas about what contrib/ is about, and what it means. It's just a place where we put stuff that is primarily maintained outside of our tree. That's all; everything else is just a consequence of the tools we use to maintain this code, and applies no matter where the code is in the tree. -- ... every activity meets with opposition, everyone who acts has his rivals and unfortunately opponents also. But not because people want to be opponents, rather because the tasks and relationships force people to take different points of view.
