Why would that make a difference (not that I didn't try, I did and it
doesn't). Both large and LBA suffice to bring the cylinder count
below the 1024 BIOS bottleneck.

FreeBSD, however, only seems to see and use the raw configuration. It
does not detect the BIOS mode correctly. Be it LBA or large.
