I'll hold up my hand and say that I've been lurking on this list for 
what seems like years. I'm another non coder with an old sparc 
(LX) running redhat in this case. Perhaps I'll get openBSD onto it 
sometime. Building tool chains is more than I can do. I would be 
willing to test once we get to that stage.
